360 panoramas, tours and stuff

Recently I have been learning about 360 degree photography, and how it can be used in Google Maps Streetview and Panorama Photos, as well as for creating virtual tours for real estate listings, business properties and other informational purposes. Here is some of the work I have done in the last few months.

Lathhouse 360 and tour

The Peter Black Conservatory tropical greenhouse in the Victoria Esplanade gardens in Palmerston North was a great location to test out these technologies. My first attempt was a high resolution stitched image which I managed without a panoramic tripod head. It would have been much better if I had one. You see a great version in this website, or what it looks like in Google Maps. With that done I attempted a full tour of the facility (hosted on this site) using a regular 360° camera. Google Maps Streetview "Blue Lines"

I have added streetview imagery to over 30km around my home town. Firstly I completed the 7km He Ara Kotahi pathway by bike and that is now published on Google Maps. The biggest feather in my cap is the 24km (return) Te Ahu a Turanga – Manawatū Tararua Highway which I managed to do with the camera on the roof of my humble car before the Google Car managed it. I should remain in the Streetview archive history "forever" now! My next step is to do the adjacent Shared Path which will be a challenge to get onto Google Maps because the path isn't separately identified, making the process a little more tricky.

The Palmerston North City Library walkway

The walkway was my first Google Maps attempt to link 360 panos to make a virtual tour on Google Maps which is different to the Blue Line Streetview. For some reason i you not logged into a Google Account you will need to click on the link and then come back and click on it again.
